This painting was my way of returning to the Garden That Never Sleeps collection, which meditates on floral silhouettes and shapes, exploring how nighttime and gardens mirror aspects of girlhood: secrecy, intimacy, discovery, magic, sensitivity. I loved this series and the questions around color and form it inspired for me. The floral patterns make the work feel more two-dimensional, almost like paper cutouts.
