You know that place you go in your dreams. It’s familiar yet strange. And you don’t remember when or why you last came. And you wonder why you’ve returned again now. It’s both day and night in the same hour. There are oddly placed furniture and lingering childhood scents and the aching echoes of deja vu. You suddenly recall that you’re dreaming. And the place starts to feel more and less wonderful the longer you stay.

I have a place like this I go to in my dreams. The colors and smells run rampant with memories that I have no clue if they belong to me or not. I wanted to capture this elusive, dreamy, personal feeling in this painting. I’m constantly bewildered by all the familiar, distant, colorful settings of my dreams. It makes me wonder which is my true reality - here or there 🌥🌩
